Dear Rajesh

I have been quiet on purpose since end of November 2009 but feel that the time is right to share the following info with you:

My previous Xenon(oil leak riddled) was attended to by the Tata Branch in Brakpan(November 2009) after the Boksburg and Edenvale branches had their opportunities. A person by the name of “Deon” in the Service Department at Brakpan had no problem to come and collect my previous vehicle at my workplace. He consistently contacted me regarding progress on my  bakkie repairs. Deon also ensured that the demo 2,2 I received dirty from Head Office as courtesy vehicle was cleaned after my complaint. During the same period I contacted the  Vehicle Sales department of Tata Brakpan and they assisted me in obtaining a brand new  Xenon 2.2 Double Cab 4x2 bakkie. This bakkie was delivered to my doorstep on the 7th of December 2009. The Salesman was a person called “Marius” and he was assisted on the finance side by a lady called “Tina”. These two persons make up a dream team when it comes to vehicle sales and I found them very professional in their operation. What fascinated me of the Brakpan Branch was the fact that they went out of their way to assist. When I called for minor cosmetic items to be attended to on the new vehicle Deon of the Service Department again had no problem in collecting my vehicle from the airport.

I took the new bakkie for a round trip – Kemptonpark, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Kemptonpark over the New Year’s weekend. What a different vehicle!!  I was stunned with the amount of power and acceleration delivered by the 2.2 Xenon. The average fuel consumption for the trip came as a big surprise -  13.2km/L or 7.57L/100km. Average speed worked out at 115km/h.

Since April 2008 up to now I have placed three(3) reports/threads regarding the Xenon bakkie on the 4x4Community Forum Website read by thousands of people across the country. I have included the link to the website(below) or you can go straight to the TATA heading(below) on the same site. In both instances you must make use of the mouse arrow and the “ctrl” key on your computer keyboard. My nickname on the forum at all three articles/threads is – Alive-N-Kickin.

I must congratulate TATA on the Xenon 2.2 Double Cab. Each and every change you’ve made – being cosmetic or technically – have changed this bakkie into a force to be reconned with.

I AM A VERY PROUD OWNER OF A 2.2 TATA XENON DOUBLE CAB.

Bernard Brits

Hi Rajesh

Hope you are well.

Just to give you some feedback regarding my Xenon 2.2d dc 4x4.
As you know we went to Botswana, Kasane in the past December our total km’s for this trip was 4000km and I must say the XENON handled it brilliantly.

We towed a conqueror compact 4x4 trailer and the total weight of the trailer and all the stuff we packed was 800 – 900kg. We averaged about 550km on a tank and we filled up every time as the reserve light came on, so in theory we would have been able to 600km on tank with all the weight, I think that is really really good.

We went off-road for extended hours and had no problems at all towing the trailer threw mud, sand and dirt roads the only thing was that from all the up and motion the tow-bar moved down(not bended) Must be a slip bolt. We lifted the tow-bar and fastened it again but after a couple of Km’s the bar moved down again but it only moves down to a certain point and then it stays there. I think it can be because the trailer is also a bit high.

Without the trailer it handled very good in all off-road conditions except on the sand roads the sump guard is a bit too low and therefore it picked up a lot of sand and after a couple of hours driving in it I couldn’t turn left properly as all the sand was stuck in there but as soon as we got back on the asphalt most of sand blew out and all returned back to normal. I think if I lift the vehicle a bit in the front it will be perfect.

Overall I’m really impressed with the vehicle’s performance and fuel consumption. Without a load it averages on about 12.5km p\l on the open road and +- 10km p\l in the city.

I’m also a proud owner of a TATA Xenon 2.2d dc 4x4 and would suggest the vehicle to anyone I talk to
looking for a similar vehicle

Kind Regards
Anthony Martin
