Testimonials

I would like to praise Tata for the Indica!

My daughter had an unfortunate accident on a mountain pass near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, South Africa and rolled the vehicle. Luckily she had her seatbelt on.

The car is a total write off, but my daughter just had a cut on her forehead from the driver window that burst.
But you can be proud of your product!

If I can buy a Tata again one day I would.

Attached are the pictures.

Service for our New Tata Safari 4x4 started off with some issues but your comapany has made all the repairs we requested and my wife and I would like to give a good review to your company and for our Tata
Safari.

I posted the below review on a few websites but not sure if it will be read.
Please, do you know of another website where we can posts our review...and/or we give our permission to use our comments on any of your adverts.... Regards, Leon Leopard

Review....Best value real 4x4 SUV in South Africa.....

This is the first time I've written a vehicle review but I believe one is warranted so here I go¡K. My wife and I shopped diligently for a reasonably priced 4x4 SUV in South Africa. We needed an SUV that could carry us and
any of our 7 grown kids and/or friends on tours around Africa, plus be a run-about car for local shopping¡Ketc. The crazy adventurer in me wanted a rugged off-road 4x4 that could jump sand dunes and climb mountains.
but my wife wanted a small pink SUV with butterfly wings painted on it. We test drove a few small SUV'¦s but finding any with "real" 4X4 ability was difficult. The smaller SUV¡¦s were ok price wise, some had all-wheel-drive
(not as good as 4x4), but all had low ground clearance and were not suitable for serious off-road driving. Plus, the smaller SUV¡¦s could only seat 4 people with very little space for camping gear or luggage. The bigger
SUV's we looked at were also big on price but had all the bells and whistles I liked, though too big for running around town and parking¡Ketc for my wife.

The Tata Safari was small enough for my wife, big enough for me and had the 4x4 capability I wanted, and the price "new" was cheaper than most "used" Land Rovers we looked at. We hesitated initially to buy because we¡¦d read reviews that Tata was not good at servicing their vehicles in South Africa. However, because the price was right we felt it was worth taking a chance. After buying our Tata 4x4 Safari in September 2010 we've driven all over South Africa¡K.including the Kalahari and Lesotho (twice)....plus my wife drives it every day around town.

We did have a few warranted items that needed repair¡Kand at first service was slow. But after an e-mail to the Tata Country Manager the service has improved and our warranted items have been replaced and/or repaired. Also, on my last trip through the "4x4 only" trails in the Kalahari¡K.I noticed all the Land Rovers and other expensive 4x4's on the trail. It felt good knowing that my SUV could travel the same places they could at roughly 1/3 their price new. Lastly, with fuel prices increasing! we're very glad we bought the Tata Safari with its small diesel engine that goes ~800k on a fuel tank. Now to be fair, the Tata Safari is not as nice as a Land Rover type SUV in looks and style, but it's much cheaper to buy (1/3 the price), uses much less fuel and can take you on those same off-road adventures that expensive SUV's can take you.

Bottom line...my wife and I are happy with our 2010 Tata Safari and would recommend SUV shoppers consider Tata Safaris when shopping. I hear a new model / design is coming out this year. We might even buy another one,
thistime with butterflies painted on it...for my wife.

Dear Andries, Ian, Lisa, Nicky, Hemant and all at PE Multi and Tata group

Thank you once again for your response to my situation. I appreciate the refund of my extra expenses. My aircon is now working well as is my little car generally. Today I am most grateful that it was cool in my car :) and that my clutch is back to normal.

I hope you all had a good, cool, grumble-free day too.

Good day

We have just been on a holiday in October 2010 this year. The first in a while and we just wanted to let you know how amazing our little TATA Indica is...

We do not have a luxury TATA (no aircon on electric windows or central locking - pity but true) but we decided that we would go on our SA Tour in our TATA.

We live in Cape Town - my husband is phenomenal and the SAPS Commander at the Cape Town International Airport and I work as the Office Manager to the Head of Department: Transport and Public Works, Western Cape.

We had decided to drive from Cape Town to Beaufort West to Kroonstad to Hartebeespoort dam to Pelgrims rest and through the Kruger National Park we stayed in Marloth park then to Barberton to Clarens and the Golden Gate; to Pietermaritzburg and then on to Addo... from Addo we actually had such a fabulous drive that we just carried on driving straight through to Home.

We met many people in many places who were driving fancy 4x4, air-conditioned cars... they couldn't believe that we had such an amazing little TATA that could go (almost) everywhere they went. We visited and drove around at Ko-ka Tsara Bush Camp, in Kroonstad, at Phiri Bush Lodge, at Crystal Springs Mountain Lodge, through the Kruger National Park and Golden Gate, on KZN Roads and the Wild Coast. (We did pick up a bit of damage on the left front wheel travelling on a terrible, potholed, sand/gravel/mess road over the K river to Vrede - we had missed the indication that it was not tarred.)

People couldn't believe that this little, no frills, no nonsense TATA could be so incredibly tough and not give a day's hassels. And of course, need I say anything about the fuel consumption - we travelled 450km (at R250) on our 35l tank.

We just wanted to let you know. at TATA - WOW! Thanks this little car has earned our respect - and has inspired many others!

At first we didn't want to drive anything but Daihatsu but we are converted!

Kind regards
Sharonette Webb-Olivier

“…As a rough and tumble bakkie driver, I always enjoy the pleasure of taking a breather behind the wheel of a car like TATA that seems to drive itself, with a comfortable and strong steering action and competent engine. The on-board controls are easy to navigate and offer no distraction while travelling long distances. The car is the perfect road trip vehicle, with good fuel efficiency and a strong long haul temperament. I am always amazed why many consider the TATA an inferior player in the mid-price market, when this spunky well designed little racer can hold confidently hold its own against run-arounds brought out by the more high end car manufacturers…”

Bruce Nimmerhoudt
“Having driven high performance vehicles, I was bit reluctant to take on the TATA Vista. I thought that using the TATA would be a challenge in terms of its offering and the fact that I was skeptical about TATA’s entry level car. To my amazement I was proven totally wrong! The car performs well under pressure and provides stability both on and off road. The exterior design of the car is sleek and nothing looks out of place. Overall I’m impressed with the TATA Vista Ego and do not want to hand over the vehicle any time soon.”

Andrew Bam
“I’ve been driving the TATA for just over 6 months and am pleasantly surprised by what this great suburban ‘run around’ is capable of. These cars are surprisingly reliable. Out of our entire fleet, we have not had a single breakdown or a reliability issue. Secondly, the safety features in this car are impressive, such as air bags and Anti-locking Braking System, side impact bars and crumple zones, which all inspire confident, safe driving. The car’s stylish and unique design is always a head turner and judging by the number of questions and compliments that I have received while on the road this is enough to make any TATA driver proud.
The TATA’s affordability, its impressive safety function and stylish features makes this little car that can, and I happily recommend this car to anybody looking for an upmarket student car, fleet vehicle or day-to-day run around.”

Jonathan Miskin
“…In terms of general performance this car is a pleasure to drive, ensuring that I get to where I need to be with relative ease and despite all the road works on the way. For the summer ahead, the air-conditioning system is turning out to be very effective, while the other in-car features like the Bluetooth system add a great deal to the functionality, ensuring an easy uncomplicated drive. The car’s fuel economy is more or less on par with similar vehicles of its class, making its overall rating in terms of general value for money, in my opinion, an eight out of ten.”

Good day,

I would just like to take a few minutes to comment on the good service that we received from Vishnu Kistensany when we bought our Tata Indica from your dealership.

Throughout the whole transaction we received prompt and friendly service, he went out of his way to assist in getting all the necessary documentation and the deal was approved within 2 days and we could collect the car real quick.

I would recommend to anyone to use your franchise in future

Thank you very much

Dear Rajesh

I have been quiet on purpose since end of November 2009 but feel that the time is right to share the following info with you:

My previous Xenon(oil leak riddled) was attended to by the Tata Branch in Brakpan(November 2009) after the Boksburg and Edenvale branches had their opportunities. A person by the name of “Deon” in the Service Department at Brakpan had no problem to come and collect my previous vehicle at my workplace. He consistently contacted me regarding progress on my  bakkie repairs. Deon also ensured that the demo 2,2 I received dirty from Head Office as courtesy vehicle was cleaned after my complaint. During the same period I contacted the  Vehicle Sales department of Tata Brakpan and they assisted me in obtaining a brand new  Xenon 2.2 Double Cab 4x2 bakkie. This bakkie was delivered to my doorstep on the 7th of December 2009. The Salesman was a person called “Marius” and he was assisted on the finance side by a lady called “Tina”. These two persons make up a dream team when it comes to vehicle sales and I found them very professional in their operation. What fascinated me of the Brakpan Branch was the fact that they went out of their way to assist. When I called for minor cosmetic items to be attended to on the new vehicle Deon of the Service Department again had no problem in collecting my vehicle from the airport.

I took the new bakkie for a round trip – Kemptonpark, Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Kemptonpark over the New Year’s weekend. What a different vehicle!!  I was stunned with the amount of power and acceleration delivered by the 2.2 Xenon. The average fuel consumption for the trip came as a big surprise -  13.2km/L or 7.57L/100km. Average speed worked out at 115km/h.

Since April 2008 up to now I have placed three(3) reports/threads regarding the Xenon bakkie on the 4x4Community Forum Website read by thousands of people across the country. I have included the link to the website(below) or you can go straight to the TATA heading(below) on the same site. In both instances you must make use of the mouse arrow and the “ctrl” key on your computer keyboard. My nickname on the forum at all three articles/threads is – Alive-N-Kickin.

I must congratulate TATA on the Xenon 2.2 Double Cab. Each and every change you’ve made – being cosmetic or technically – have changed this bakkie into a force to be reconned with.

I AM A VERY PROUD OWNER OF A 2.2 TATA XENON DOUBLE CAB.

Bernard Brits

Hi Rajesh

Hope you are well.

Just to give you some feedback regarding my Xenon 2.2d dc 4x4.
As you know we went to Botswana, Kasane in the past December our total km’s for this trip was 4000km and I must say the XENON handled it brilliantly.

We towed a conqueror compact 4x4 trailer and the total weight of the trailer and all the stuff we packed was 800 – 900kg. We averaged about 550km on a tank and we filled up every time as the reserve light came on, so in theory we would have been able to 600km on tank with all the weight, I think that is really really good.

We went off-road for extended hours and had no problems at all towing the trailer threw mud, sand and dirt roads the only thing was that from all the up and motion the tow-bar moved down(not bended) Must be a slip bolt. We lifted the tow-bar and fastened it again but after a couple of Km’s the bar moved down again but it only moves down to a certain point and then it stays there. I think it can be because the trailer is also a bit high.

Without the trailer it handled very good in all off-road conditions except on the sand roads the sump guard is a bit too low and therefore it picked up a lot of sand and after a couple of hours driving in it I couldn’t turn left properly as all the sand was stuck in there but as soon as we got back on the asphalt most of sand blew out and all returned back to normal. I think if I lift the vehicle a bit in the front it will be perfect.

Overall I’m really impressed with the vehicle’s performance and fuel consumption. Without a load it averages on about 12.5km p\l on the open road and +- 10km p\l in the city.

I’m also a proud owner of a TATA Xenon 2.2d dc 4x4 and would suggest the vehicle to anyone I talk to
looking for a similar vehicle

Kind Regards
Anthony Martin
