Tata Motors provides support for Commonwealth Games

Dear Colleagues,

Tata Motors is the official vehicles sponsor for the Commonwealth Games. The company is supporting with 1550 Tata Indigo cars, 109 Tata Grandes, 100 Tata Safaris, 20 Tata Wingers and 30 Tata trucks.

Besides 600 Tata Marcopolo low floor AC buses are being used by the DTC to transport all the 7,000 Games sportspersons / officials / media / business leaders & also the Ministers, MPs & international diplomats. This will continue till the closing ceremony on October 14, 2010. These 600 buses are operating from a massive single depot, Millennium depot, which is the largest one of its kind in the world covering 62 acres situated on the banks of river Yamuna which has space to accommodate 1,000 buses.

  • A dedicated team of 106 Engineers from Customer Support, well assisted by Plants, ERC & key vendors is working round the clock to ensure buses are maintained in excellent condition.
  • A strong team of 1,000 technicians from Service Provider are working along with Customer Support team to upkeep the buses wherein 200 checks are conducted on each bus daily.
  • 2,200 nos of DTC personnel consisting of senior officers, Drivers, Conductors are also working at Millennium depot.
  • To provide quick response, a full time Control room is set up within Millennium depot. 34 field teams with 300 technicians from Customer Support deployed at strategic places on CWG route.
The DTC Chairman has applauded the efforts of Tata Motors. Mr. Ian Smith, Director of Organizing Committee, visited the Millennium depot on October 5 and complimented the entire team.
