Basically, you have two choices when it comes to purchasing a bakkie: you can buy either a single cab or a double cab. Let us take a look at both the double cab bakkie and the single cab bakkie so that you can decide which is best for you.
Single cab bakkie
A single cab bakkie typically has one set of seating to accommodate the driver and one other person riding as a passenger and two passenger doors, one on either side of the vehicle. This is the best kind of vehicle for someone who does a lot of solo driving, or with one passenger at most travelling with them. The single cab leaves more room for the loading bay which means that more can be loaded into the vehicle.
The double cab bakkie has a lot more seating space and resembles a normal automobile inside in that there two individual seating areas. This allows you to have as many as five people in the cab, as you would in a sedan. Do take note, however, that not all rear seating in double cab bakkies is the same. Some have proper rear passenger seats while others merely have a bench-like structure which will not be as comfortable as proper rear seating on long journeys. The double cab bakkie also has a reduced loading bay because of the additional cab which means that you will not be able to load as much into it as you would with the single cab version.
As you can see, there are advantages to both the double cab bakkie and the single cab version. However, the one you choose will ultimately depend on what you are planning on using your vehicle for. If you are going to use it as a family car, for instance, then you may want to go with the double cab bakkie but if you plan on using it transport goods for your business then a single cab with more loading space might be better. Before you commit to purchasing either option, make sure that you know exactly what your vehicular needs are as you do not want to buy one and then find that you actually need the other.
